Dear folks in DC-International,

this may be only half of the answer to the question DC/RDF, but I think a
valuable source:

There has just been a digital libraries workshop in Moscow, supported by
the Russian Institute for Information and the British Council.

See

http://www.iis.ru/rbdlw99/index.en.html

and short report on this in LT World from Robin Yeates

http://www.sbu.ac.uk/litc/lt/1999/news1532.html

Yuri Hohlov, director of the Institute, was prime organizer, and is
well-known for his work on digital libraries thusfar in Russia. He is in
the IFLA Standing Committee on Information Technology and he and others
(including myself) have tried to start on a information resource concerning
digital library research around the world. Yuri is also responsible for
initiating several bilateral collaboration projects with the US and Great
Britain.

Misha Schwartzmann seems to be the one in Russia (from my contacts there
from the EU) most interested in the Dublin Core. I have sent Stu a short
overview of his work recently and can forward it to this list if desired.

Hope that helps a bit - I suspect it would be very useful if both these
persons were invited to the DC 7, as Russia has certainly been
underrepresented in the past.

Best regards,
Diann
