Hi Peter
I have got answers to your question on SiteServer Search. I contacted Microsoft about this in early Decemeber 1998. Even though the Site Server 3.0 Search documentation says that periods in tag names are not supported, there is a way around it. Here is what you need to do:
1. Open your "c:\Microsoft Site Server\Data\Search\Projects\xxxx\Build\schema.txt" file
and add a section like this:
(where xxxx is the name of your catalog)
<column
name="DC.Title"
description="Dublin Core Title"
type="VT_LPWSTR"
propid="d1b5d3f0-c0b3-11cf-9a92-00a0c908dbf1/DC.Title"
index="yes"
retrieve="yes">
</column>
You need to do this manually because the Microsoft Management Console and WebAdmin interfaces will not allow you to add a property with a period in it.
2. Repeat step 1 for the rest of the DC tags.
3. Catalog your content with Site Server Search
4. To search on the DC.Title property, your query must look like this (note
the quotes):
@"META_DC.Title" Test
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more info.
Regards
Hank Szeto.
