Hi all,
Just to clarify a few missunderstandings:

There are 40.000 viruses for MS-DOS/ Windows machines because it's more
"fun" to mess around with 97 percent of all computer users.

Regarding instability:
We are running WindowNT Web Servers and had not a single crash in the
last 12 months, despite some 400.000 user requests a month.
Regarding cost:
Before the NT servers we had a Sun Solaris box. Cost: Aus$ 20.000
3 years ago. The NT box cost us Aus$ 5.500 and performs about 4 times
faster. A UNIX service person is about twice the cost of a Microsoft
pro.
On the desktop front:
I have just bought a WinNT based DV editing solution. Total cost:
Aus$ 10.000. A similar performing solution based on Apples new
G3 would have cost twice as much.
Regarding security:
No system is unbreakable

I used to work for a division of NOKIA. They had WordPerfect
as their office solution because it was available for DEC-UNIX and
MS-DOS. There where so many problems with stability and compatability
in the product that they gave up and switched to MS-0ffice. BUT kept
the UNIX mainframe to run all their production machinery.
On a final note:
I need Metadata software which is easy to use. Is available for an
operating system that most of our users have installed on their
desktops. Software that is cheap. Software that is easy and
quick to install. Sorry, but I haven't seen this a lot on UNIX
plattforms.
