Wolfgang and others interested,
The IBG session was organised by the ERG at the '98 Conference.
Andy Dougill (Environment Centre, Leeds) and I (Geography,
Leeds) presented one of the papers: 'recreational users of Lake
District bridleways: conflict or cameraderie'. It was a small-scale
qualitative project which aimed to explore these mountain
biker/walker/etc. conflicts. This preliminary work has been
published in 'The North West Geographer' (vol 2., 1998), and I hope
to continue with the work when we can get it off the back burner
once again. If you'd like a copy of the paper, let me know.
On a similar theme, Steve Carver, also from here, presented one of
the other papers in the session and we're now co-convening an
ESRC research seminar series on 'Wilderness Management'. The
series has a policy/management element, but also a social and
cultural agenda too which may be of interest to some crit-
geoggers. Provisional programme details and background can be
found on:

If you'd like further info, or to get involved in the series, please let
me know.
Hope this is of use,
Matt
