Why try to widen participation in Lacrosse? If it is about health and
fitness why not encourage less capital intensive activities (sport
may be included).
Lacrosse has been / is symbolically for a particular class faction.
Freeze it out. Trying to open it out 'for all' is unlikely to benefit
those who cannot afford the equipment or who simply prefer other
activities. What do you want to do? take marginalised kids out from
football and into Lacrosse to provide legitimation for Lacrosse and
other middle/upper class sports. Next thing we'll have the hunting
lobby providing grants for inner-city kids to kill foxes...
