UNIVERSITY OF NOTTINGHAM
SCHOOL OF PSYCHOLOGY
RESEARCH ASSISTANTS/ASSOCIATES (UP TO FOUR POSTS)
The ESRC Centre for Research in Development, Instruction and Training
(CREDIT) invites applications for the above posts in the area of ICT and
learning. The Centre's research is interdisciplinary, current staff having
backgrounds in psychology, artificial intelligence, HCI and education.
These posts have been established through both the award of a new research
contract from the Office of Naval Research and the transfer of existing
contract staff to faculty posts within the University. The successful
candidates will work in one of the following areas:
* The application and evaluation of a computer-based authoring environment
(REDEEM) in the production of intelligent tutoring systems for use in both
Naval-training contexts and in schools.
* The design and evaluation of multi-representational learning environments.
* Collaborative learning supported by ICT.
* The design and/or evaluation of learning and instructional technologies.
Candidates should have a PhD, master or graduate level qualification in a
cognate area. Applications from candidates with a proven interest and
experience in relevant interdisciplinary work will be particularly welcome.
For pre-doctoral candidates, the opportunity to register as a part-time PhD
student in a related research area is available.
Salary will be within the range £15,735 - £23,651 per annum (under review),
depending on qualifications and experience (£17,570 maximum without PhD).
These posts are available from September 1999 and will be offered on a
fixed-term contract for a period of three years.
