Just to reply to David Woods point on the media representations of
the J18 actions, i'd say there is nothing to be expected from the
media in this country other than they show their true colours (as
they continually do) as upholders of private property and the social
relations of capital. Of course the reason to go on actions is not
to hope for anything from the media but for the reasons many people
have been expressing on this list and others.
One thing that did slightly bother me about friday, and has bothered
many others on other actions, is the sheer amount of cameras
and video cams on thesedays which seem intent on reducing everything to a
mere spectacle. Its bad enough with the police filming everyone they
possibly can on such things for their increasing surveillances but
some "activists" seem intent on filming everything and seemingly
often getting in the way of people trying to do things - this seemed
to happen at various points on friday. Also it is apparently not
unknown for video-cam people who fancy themselves as UnderCurrents
type alternative media people send unedited copies of video to tv
stations.
