Engaging Government, MP's, think-tank leaders, pressure groups and leading
voices with civil society.

Exploring the trends shaping the modern world and defining the central
debates
of the 21st Century for the Labour Government and progressive politics.

Encouraging the left-leaning public, opinion formers, and those active in

Friday 18th June (7pm-9pm) The Shape of 21st Century Politics

Anthony Giddens in debate with Will Hutton, chaired by Polly Toynbee.
Bringing
together the two most influential thinkers of the British modernising left.

Saturday 19th June (10am-11:30am): Britain, Europe and A Modern Left

After the European elections, former Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs and

writer Frank Vandenbroucke, Ruth Kelly MP, Tony Wright MP, chaired by Nina
Temple (New Times) analyse alternative visions of the British and European
left-of-centre.

Saturday 19th June (4pm-5:30pm) Pluralism, Participation and the New
Politics

As devolution and electoral reform gather pace and voter turnout in the
European
elections falls to new lows John Monks, Trevor Phillips and Pam Giddy
(Charter
88) take part in a Question Time debate on the possibilities of a `new
politics'. Chaired by Michael Jacobs (Fabian Society).
