Good evening fellow list-members,
I apologize if this request seems to intrude upon the ensuing discussion
of disability studies, the academy, ivory towers, etc., a discussion
which I regard as vital ...
I am preparing a proposal for a project on genetic counselling. One of
our objectives for the project is to devise a set of guidelines for
genetic counsellors which (among other things) takes account of the ways
in which these interventions impact upon the lives of disabled people.
Currently, no such guidelines exist in Canada.
Since the proposed research would be conducted under the auspices of the
National Network of Environment, Women and Health (and funded by Health
Canada), in the proposal I will refer to the state of affairs with
respect to genetic counselling in other countries. Thus, I would like
to know if such ethico-political guidelines for genetic counsellors
currently exist in other parts of the world. References or any other
assistance with this request would be most appreciated.
Best regards, Shelley
