This study day provides an opportunity for those interested in
women in social policy to meet and discuss policy and political
developments in the light of the New Labour government.
Timetable
10.30 -11am Registration, tea/coffee.
11-12am Opening Speaker: Miriam David 'Women, Home, Work and
Schools' followed by discussion.
12-1pm Two parallel sessions:

Citizenship in Britain - the challenge of complexity'
Jay Ginn 'Left, Right, Right: implications for
women of Labour s shifting policy on pensions'
1-2 Lunch.
2-3pm Two parallel sessions:
Jane Franklin 'Women's voices and New Labour'
Jayne Mooney 'Single Mothers and Feckless
Fathers: crime and the family'
3-4pm Closing speaker: Ruth Lister 'A new Deal for Women?
New Labour and Welfare Policy'
4-4.30pm Informal discussion on future activities of the Special
Interest Group
