I, too, use TMG for my family history but do not know if it would be
feasible to input data directly from original sources into TMG, or indeed
any other family history software. I imagine it would be rather slow
compared to a database or spreadsheet and you would lose the reporting
facilities of this type of software. On the other hand, most family history
packages generate family trees from your data and I know that TMG can sort
on Soundex surnames.
