Dear Stephen,
Many thanks for amazing list of archives - I am bowled over by the
quality and extent of the material. I confess to having made a policy
decision to exclude Wales on the grounds that I didn't read Welsh and
that the topic should be researched by a welsh speaker. A friend
translated some papers for me which highlighted the difficulties. I
do how ever have an interest as there were Welsh branches based in
Liverpool in the late 19th early 20th century. Indeed there is a
reference to such an organization on your list.9CNA EZ1/343/18 but
unfortunately too late for my period.
The statue of Frances Willard is much more interesting than fountains
which are simply a fun thing for me a bit like train spotting without
having to sit on railway stations!
I keep coming across them and suspect they were given out to
branches. There is one in Southport - Lancs which is in pristine
condition complete with glass dome.
Once more many thanks, I can feel a visit to Aberystwyth coming on. I
did my Fellowship of the Library Association in Aberystwyth!

Please find attached a list of references to temperance records in
the National Library of Wales. Most (but not all) relate to women's
temperance, most relate to Wales (but spill over into Welsh
communities in England), and most (but not all) date from the
twentieth century.
The attachment amounts to seventeen (17) pages.
Sorry, no fountains, although there is a statuette of Frances
Willard.
Yours sincerely
Stephen Benham

The above is my own opinion and not necessarily that of the NLW
