The UK Electronic Library (UKEL) is being developed by Project EARL.
UKEL will act as the national gateway to the New Public Library, providing electronic content and services relevant to the needs of public library users. It will make innovative use of networking tools, and exploit and widen access to the unique resources of public libraries.
Phase one (lasting six months), a pilot demonstrator building on EARL's achievements so far, will develop:
A focused, managed Internet resource guide
An electronic enquiry service
Guides to resources in public libraries.
A UKEL Co-ordinator has been appointed and is now in post.
EARL welcomes input from all sectors of the library profession and feedback is invited. Contact:
