NERC Research Studentship in Archaeological Science

The Department of Archaeology at the University of Southampton
invites applications for an NERC studentship, tenable for three
years.
The successful applicant will be registered for an MPhil degree
with the expectation that they will be upgraded to PhD if
satisfactory progress is demonstrated. NERC will pay fees and
maintenance at the appropriate rate (see www.nerc.ac.uk for
details).
The Department of Archaeology, University of Southampton is a
research-led department with an international reputation. It
has been rated 5 in the last two Research Assessment Exercises
and has excellent general and specialist facilities and
accommodation.
Potential candidates should hold a good honours degree (usually
an upper 2nd or first class degree) and/or a masters degree and
will propose a programme of research that contributes to one or
more of the departments research interests in archaeological
science which include:
- Archaeological computing
- Maritime archaeology
- Human and animal osteoarchaeology
- Ceramic and lithic petrology

proposed research programme on one side of A4, which should be
