The editors, Brian Rusted (University of Calgary) and Barbara Czarniawska
(Gothenburg Research Institute) would like to encourage you to submit a
paper to _Studies in Cultures, Organizations and Societies_.

_Studies in Cultures, Organizations and Societies_ provides academics and
practitioners with a scholarly forum for critical debate on the culture
and symbolism of everyday life in organizations. The journal is not
limited to research conducted from particular methodological traditions
but reports contemporary scholarly and applied research that crosses
traditional disciplinary boundaries. It stimulates provocative discussion
and innovative perspectives, at the same time sustaining continuity and
development in this emerging field.

The journal features research on the cultural performances, artifacts and
texts of organizations. Theory and methods appropriate to this field are
constantly constructed and re-evaluated and the journal has an important
role to play in the consolidation of these developments. Ethnography,
action research, deconstruction and other methodologies have figured
prominently in research on organizational symbolism. Feminism, critical
theory, postmodernism and post-colonial theory continue to offer
theoretical frameworks for this research. Taking into account recent
challenges to the authority of ethnography both inside and outside the
field, _Studies_ can also encourage the questioning of received research
paradigms, the critical scrutiny of the process of organizing and its
power premises, and reflection on the rhetoric of voice and
representation. All these approaches can be applied to studies of private
and public sector organizations.
