Congratulations to all colleagues on the List who have worked so hard to get
their students through A Level courses in Economics and Business Studies.
I always find the last day of the course one of mixed emotions - rising
stress / hope / good memories / satisfaction / tiredness.
Did anyone get an unusual leaving gift from their "grateful students"? My
large U6 set (20!) clubbed together to purchase some turtle wax for the car.
(They are a generous lot on Tyneside!)
Is the wax to be used to gloss over a poor set of exam results?
Was it a reference to my polished teaching?
Perhaps the gift is because many have taken a shine to Economics and will
study it at university?
Or more likely the gift was the inevitable result of two years of jokes
about my shining forehead! ("I wanted to be an Economist with British
Airways, but I didn't want to work for a receding airline")
Have a great half term and make the most of the few "free periods" that
aren't filled with exciting exam invigilation!
Geoff
