I still feel uncomfortable with the chosen title for section 7:
"Dublin Core in Real Descriptions". There is no mention of
qualifiers in RFC2413, the only authoritative description of
the Dublin Core published so far. In fact, the notion of
qualifiers is still very much unsettled. For instance, no
reference model incorporating qualifiers has been published
so far, nor has any lists of "official" qualifiers appeared.
The present title "Dublin Core in Real Descriptions" may
mistakenly be understood by a casual reader to mean that
qualifiers _are_ part of the Dublin Core as described in DC 1.0;
and the examples showing the use of qualifiers may likewise
be understood to mean that such qualifiers as "Created" and
"Accepted" already are agreed upon and exist as part of
the DC vocabulary.
Proposals:
1. Change the title of section 7 from "Dublin Core in Real
Descriptions" to "Extending the Dublin Core" to reflect the
fact that qualifies are not currently a part of the Dublin
Core, but an extension to it.
2. Insert a note somewhere in section 7 to divulge the current status
of qualified Dublin Core and qualifier names. For example:
"A formel reference model for qualified Dublin Core is yet not
ready, nor has any list of qualifiers been approved. In this
note, we illustrated use of qualifiers to lend realism to later
examples. Please note, however, that the vocabulary used in
this examples are for demonstration only, and that actual terms
will eventually come from a controlled vocabulary yet to be
decided."
