I've just completed the penultimate version of a note that discusses
how to make use of the DC metadata element set and data model to augment
an Internet search engine.
The report is in PDF format (i.e. you need an Acrobat Reader), it is
20 pages, and can be picked up at the following URI:
http://www.ifi.uio.no/~gisle/fast/rap02b.pdf
I don't know what interest there is in this type of material on
these mailing lists, but hope that posting this URI here is not
regarded as obtrusive. As our application very different from the
library/OPAC/MARC-oriented usages that seems to be the focus of
most of the present discussions -- I hope it at least my report
provides some perspective.
Comments are, as always, most welcome -- both about the general
ideas expressed, about the way we torture the DC to suit our
application, and about anything else you may think is relevant.
Finally: This is an internal working note. Please to not cite or
refer to it. Also, please do not distribute it outside the scope
of the DC lists. And rememember that english is not my first
language.
