John, I had forgotten all about that book. The one I had in mind, now that
I can look it up, is Northover and Morteani PREHISTORIC GOLD IN EUROPE.
Useful in demonstrating some of the variability you mention in deposits.
Given the amount of gold in Europe over the millennia, and all the crude
that it can pick up as it gets re-used/recycled, I'm just very dubious over
some of the Waldalgeshiem material being ascribed to darics....
