James,
I made one statement using the word "British":
"but I soon realized that they had been diminished by a number
of British archaeologists who felt the need to define their culture
and heritage".
This does not say anything against the British people generally. It
states only a number of British archaeologists, not even all
archaeologists -- British or otherwise. What else would you have me
call them?
I made another statement using the word "Britain":
The other signal is displayed by: "celt" (whatever that
means...).[quoting Champion]
"This negates those people who identify themselves as being Celtic and
is
contra to the UN charter on genocide. Britain has a very long history
of genocide when it comes to Celtic peoples, and to condone this
odious statement would also violate that UN charter".
This statement refers to the political or official entity and any
individual who would have just claim to represent that entity. For
example: "Queen Victoria banned the Cornish language."
I hope this clears up the confusion -- now back to the regular program
;-)
Cheers,
John
