I am forwarding this response to the officers of the AACC Lab Information
Systems and Medication Informtics Division for there awarenes of the kinds
of educational events of ACB-IT following the recent Toward an Electronic
Patient Record Conference in which AACC-LISMID hosted a session of
labortaory oriented presentations. The theme of that session is the
complexity of the integration problem of the Clinical Labortaory
Information Domain with that of the Electronic Health Record for clinical
decision support. The kind of forum ACB-IT is proposing ism quite simailr
to those now being discussed as being hosted by AACC's LISMI Division. We
have a slightly differnt phrasing of the topics you are considering which
I annotate below. We invite ACB-IT members to the Annual Meeting of
LISMID in New Orleans and invite discussion of our respective programs as
there are amny commonalities in our situations.

association. It was proposed that an annual, 2 day event should take place.
The number of registrants would be limited to 40 and 20 of these should be
reserved for ACB trainees. The education committee would mandate that
trainees would need to attend one of these events during their 3 year
training cycle.

We are emphasizing Best Recommended Practices in Software Engineering as
they apply to Healthcare, EHR and CLIMS systems as reflected in ISO
Systemms and LifeCycle SWE standards.

great deal of experience and knowledge in all these areas and as such
would be the ideal group of lecturers for the event (on an annual basis).
The level to aim for would be fairly basic. Formal lectures would be
interspersed with workshops that would allow some hands on experience
as well as developing the topic areas further. The project can only really
take off if there is a sufficient critical mass of informatics group member
s who wish to take part. I personally feel that this is a very worthwhile
venture and would encourage participation. If any of you feel that there
are any further topics that could be included in the program, please
suggest them. Additionally if you are aware of anyone else that might be
prepared to contribute, please could you forward this email to them.
AACC LISMI would be interested in collaborative efforts in dveloping these
curricula.
