Teaching and Learning Technology (TLT) Officer
Birkbeck College, based in Bloomsbury, has the highest proportion of
research active staff of any college or university in the greater London
area. It provides undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, primarily for
part-time mature students.
The innovative use of technology to support teaching and learning has been
demonstrated in a number of courses offered by the College. The Central
Computing Services are seeking to increase the provision of support in this
area. The TLT Officer will join the User Support team which provides
technical support, advice, documentation and training to College staff and
students. The successful candidate will be expected to concentrate in the
main on the co-ordination, dissemination and support of initiatives in
teaching and learning technology. All team members are also involved in
the support of general PC applications and help-desk activities.
Candidates should possess a degree or equivalent qualification and have
experience of supporting technology-assisted teaching and learning. They
should be aware of national initiatives in this area and have knowledge or
experience of learning management systems in use within higher education.
Candidates must be capable of working with academics from a range of
disciplines, have excellent interpersonal and IT skills, and be able to
work on their own initiative.
The appointment will be made on the Academic- Related Grade 2: #20,409 -
#25,785 per annum (inclusive of London Allowance).
