<INTRODUCTION>
The Asian Digital Libraries Conference (ADL) tries
to bring together researchers and developers from
academia, industry and government to advance the
research of digital libraries in Asia. The first
ADL was held in Hong Kong in August, 1998. The
second conference will be held on November 8-9,
1999 at the newly inaugurated University Library
of the National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan.
The conference will be immediately followed by
IRAL'99 (Workshop on Information Retrieval with
Asian Languages, 1999), to further facilitate
interchange between the DL and IR communities.
<TOPICS>
The workshop will cover all research areas in
digital libraries. Emphasis will also be given
to issues pertinent to digitization of documents
and artifacts of Asian cultures. Topics of particular
interest include but are not limited to:

<SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS>
Both original research papers and descriptions of
existing systems and ongoing projects are solicited.
Research papers can be up to 15 A4 (or letter) size pages, and
system descriptions can be up to 8 A4 (or letter) size pages,
all in single column, 1.5 spacing, 1 inch all around.
The primary means of submission will be electronic,
in Word, PostScript or PDF format. Submissions should
be sent to [log in to unmask] Postal submissions
will be accepted, too. All authors taking this option
should mail 3 copies of their submitted papers to Program
Committee at the address below. Additional details on
submission guidelines will be posted at the conference
homepage.

<REVIEWING PROCESS>
At least 2 members of the Program Committee will be asked
to review each paper submission. There will be one Program
Committee meeting to make the final selections.
<LOCATION AND ACCOMMODATION>
The conference is hosted by National Taiwan University, in
Taipei, Taiwan. The university is centrally located and has
a number of large hotels within walking distance. The
university also has a limited number of guest rooms.
