The 1999 LITA Preconference will take place on Friday, June 25 from
9a.m. - 4p.m. at the Hilton Hotel in New Orleans. Early registration
deadline is May 21, 1999. "Making Sense of Digital Identifiers for
Internet and Other Applications," will highlight the growing need for
digital identifiers as presented by a formidable group of experts.
Electronic identifiers are extremely important in the management of
digital objects, both on and off the Internet, and affect services
such as library operations, copyright privileges, tracking, discovery,
linking, commercial interactions, and archiving. This workshop will
include information on the DOI, SICI, URN, URI, PII, ISWN and several
other high profile identifiers
