A hormonal relationship with plantar fasciitis, hmmm. It would be an
interesting study. Since you see a large number of cases, maybe you could hook
up with a physician and check the hormone levels of women with and without the
plantar fasciitis and test your hypothesis. It would be a fairly simple study
to do, and not too expensive.
I propose a different possibility, though. By middle age, most women have
been wearing high heels for 20 to 30 years, keeping their fascia in a
shortened position all day long. The obesity adds to the morning stress on
it. Additionally, aging may stiffen the connective tissue, increasing the
stresses on it upon standing on it in the morning.
Just one idea. Any others?
