As HENSA will be hosting JISC's new national mirroring service, I don't
think there's a need for a
html-validator.ac.uk domain (especially as this isn't very scalable, as we'd
need a css-validator.ac.uk, xml-validator.ac.uk, rdf-validator.ac.uk etc
domains).
However the persistency of domain names is very relevant to eLib projects
(and JISC services, etc). A well-known service such as SOSIG has lots of
pointers to - and would be a valuable domain for an porn site domain company
to purchase. And what will happen to projects with their own domain name
when the funding ceases -e.g. www.desire.org An interesting exit strategy
comes to mind!
