Tilburg University is an institute of higher education and research,
specializing in social sciences and humanities. The university is
compactly located on the perimeter of Tilburg in the Netherlands. It
employs 1,600 people and has a student body of 9,000. There are five
faculties (Economics and Business Administration, Law, Social Sciences,
Liberal Arts and Philosophy) that provide (postgraduate) education and
research of outstanding quality. Tilburg University offers excellent
computer and library facilities to support students and faculty.
The Library of Tilburg University has a full time vacancy for a:
Project assistant Innovation & Development (Female/Male)
(Vacancy number 250.99.04)
Main tasks:
The project assistant will be actively involved in the innovation
projects in which the Library of the University participates. The
projects are aimed at establishing the integration of heterogeneous
information sources and the development of the "Personal Virtual
Library". The project assistant will be involved in both the development
and the implementation of the software required to realise these
projects.
Requirements:
* a university / college graduate;
* experienced in programming with C++, Java and/or Perl;
* experiences in developing Web applications;
* affinity with library innovation;
* self-reliant work attitude;
* good communicative skills.
Details:
* only candidates who meet the mentioned requirements should apply;
* the project assistant Innovation & Development will work within the
department Library systems and Development;
* the position is a temporary position for a period of two years;
a 2-year extension of the position is possible;
* the writing of scientific publications on the work involved in the
projects is possible. The Library has strong ties with research groups
in the various Faculties by means of which scientific supervision can
be realised;
* the Library offers a good innovative work environment in one of the most
advanced libraries in Europe.
Salary:
The salary will be determined on the basis of the age and experience of
the candidate as well as the actual form of the appointment.
