The ESRC SURVEY LINK SCHEME : INVITATION FOR PLACEMENTS.
The Scheme offers social scientists, teachers, researchers and research
students
associated with an academic institution in the United Kingdom the
opportunity
to
observe the data collection phase of the following main British large-scale
surveys:
The British Social Attitudes Survey(BSAS)
British Election Panel Survey (BEPS)
Welsh Election Assembly Study (WEAS)
Scottish Parliamentary Study SPS
The Essex British Household Panel Survey (BHPS)
Family Expenditure Survey, (FES)
General Household Survey (GHS)
Survey of English Housing (SEH)
Family Resources Survey (FRS)
International Passenger Survey (IPS)
Labour Force Survey (LFS)
National Travel Survey (NTS)
National Food Survey (NTS)
ESRC-supported research students are particularly encouraged to apply for a
placement.
Most placements involve no more than two days of a participant's time, one
day spent observing a briefing session followed by a day accompanying
an
interviewer in the field. In some cases briefing papers are sent in
advance
and only one day's field observation is involved.
Participants are asked to write a brief report on their observations. It is
usually
possible to arrange fieldwork observation near the applicant's home base.
Travel and subsistence expenses are in any case reimbursed.
