CHAIR in Sociology
The Department of Applied Social Science is seeking a highly qualified
sociologist with a strong track record of funded empirical research and
international publications. Applications are sought from those with research
interests compatible with the Department's key research themes which are;
Social Exclusion and Marginalisation, Social Care and Health, issues
relating to Children and Young People and Comparative Social Research.
Broad undergraduate teaching experience is required and also a particular
interest in teaching and supervision at postgraduate level.
Salary by negotiation on the professorial scale (minimum £35,170).
Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Social Policy
We are also seeking a Lecturer or, Senior Lecturer with a record of research
and publication. Applications are sought from candidates with research
interests compatible with the Department's key research themes which are set
out above. The postholder will be expected to contribute to general social
policy teaching and be able to offer an honours option in a specialist area
of social policy.
Salary will be within Lecturer Grade B (£22,726 - £29,048) or Senior
Lecturer Scale (£30,496 - £34,464).
The Department is a large interdisciplinary unit which was submitted to the
Social Policy and Social Work panel in the 1996 R.A.E and received a 5* in
Social Work. Undergraduate teaching was assessed by the Sociology TQA panel
as 'excellent'.
