Those of you teaching market structure or monopoly or mergers at the
moment at the moment may like to find out more about the new Competition
Commission that replaced the MMC on the 1st April.
The site is a mine of information on monopolies and mergers. Clicking on
the further information link off the front page gives details of the
commission. The reports section has an archive of all reports that they
have done since 1950. For example there is a lovely one from the 1980's
about selective distribution policies of Bird-Eye Walls.
The site is on:

You might also like the following (apparently sent anonymously to the
New Scientist in a Microsoft envelope!):
Said Bill - and he said it quite stroppily -
"I tell you it's not a monopoly!
We fight to survive
And for freedom to thrive
As free men fought once at
Thermopylae"
Said Janet: "It is a monopoly.
The proof? You program so sloppily.
Your software's a pain.
You have to restrain
The people who could do it properly."
