Metadata Matters
The National Library is pleased to announce the availability of a new
Australian metadata information site. In a recent overview, the "guardian"
of the Dublin Core metadata initiative Stu Weibel, said metadata application
exemplifies "the commitment of a community of people with a passion for
making information more accessible and the fortitude to act in the face of
uncertainty." If you would like to join this community, MetaMatters is a
useful starting point.
MetaMatters provides an introductory guide to metadata - what it is, why we
should use it, and how to apply it - as well as information about Australian
creators of metadata, subject gateways, user guides, discussion lists, and a
reading list.
