Subject: IFCCWorldLab99 Satellite Meeting N.8
To the IT Satellite Meeting Speakers:
Hewlett-Packard is sponsoring during the IFCC WorldLab99 Congress an
Internet Access Area. The activity is aimed to provide on a daily basis
short courses for beginners and advanced users on the use of Internet
for professional purposes, and to allow for some hours free access to
all participants.
Rick Jones has been involved in setting up this 'Internet Cafe'
at the main WorldLab meeting. Because, thanks to the participation of
all of you, there is likely to be a good deal of useful new material at
the IT Satellite Meeting, he has suggested to H.P. that participants in
our meeting with a suitable system on display might like the opportunity
to show it to a wider audience at the main meeting.
HP has offered to coordinate this activity.
The email that follows, sent by Heiko Ziervogel of H.P., confirms their
engagement and gives some practical indications. As soon as we have more
details, we'll inform you. Please let us know your comments and
interests on this opportunity.
=========================
Dear Dr. Marocchi,
This message is aimed to let you know that we go forward into the
direction which we initially offered to you. The organizer approved this
activity and we are very close to announce it officially.
The free presentation will be put under the headline "Share your best
practices". The whole Internet Access Area package (free access,
trainings, free presentations) will made this public via
Hewlett-Packard's Internet pages(dedicated WorldLab 99 page). Once it is
arranged we will inform you.
There will be a notice on www.worldlab99.it which links you to this
page.
We offer a service that everybody who is interested to give such a short
presentation can sign in, gets a time slot confirmed and can publish
beforehand a small package (Name, title, abstract, picture, short-CV).
In addition we have a special information desk on Hewlett-Packard's
booth where we handle the whole promotion and registration during the
time of the congress.
For the daily courses "How to use the Internet" (Basic & Advanced) we
also went more into details. A speaker has been found, Hewlett-Packard's
IFCC WorldLab'99 Promotion page will give more details and we are very
much open for your inputs. We have no problem to position Biomedia in
the right light and participate from your experience. If are interested
we are completely open for your advise - the whole project is aimed to
make laboratory professional aware of modern tools of communication,
education and training.
Looking forward to hear from you
Best regards Heiko
Once the URL is known, I will send it to you immediately.
===============================
We would like to remind that the program on the Web still laks a
discrete number of short abstracts.
Registrations to our SM are coming: it is to date the most booked among
the SM.
We would like to have your short CV and bibliography, to do the best
introduction to your talk at the meeting.
Thank you.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
With kind regards
Alessandro Marocchi, Ian Wells
