FIELDWORK at the Hydraulics Lab by Perdita Phillips
Artist in Residence at the Department of Geography, Royal Holloway,
University of London.
You are invited to an installation reporting back on work 'out-there.'
Fieldwork is a key activity in scientific research which covers activity as
diverse as conducting an interview or visiting an archive, to taking a soil
sample or recording a measurement. After the fieldwork takes place we
return to the Lab to examine and analyze and model. Perdita's work looks
at fieldwork tools as the juncture of the hand and the landscape. The work
is reported in the laboratory -- a space that has been transformed as the
meeting point of the inside and the outside. The exhibition is in
conjunction with the Field-Work in Geography Conference at Royal Holloway
on May 5.
Exhibition dates: Opening Wednesday May 5 12:45 - 2 pm as part of
Field-Work in Geography Conference. May 6 to 22 Thursday to Friday 12 -
6 pm Saturday 10 - 5 pm.
