I do not use this technique, but have had great sucess with a taping
technique: using a flexible fixing strip around the MT's, bringing the foot
into a shortened position (increasing the medial & lateral arches), whilst
supporting the ankle on a pillow, then tape from the fixing band fairly
centrally, out laterally, around the heel & back, do this 3 times,
gradually increasing the tension. Finish off with a fixing band. It feels
very odd to stand up on at first, but takes all of the tension off the
plantar fascia, allowing patients to have complete relief for 1-2 days,
even when 180lbs & a rugby player!
