The School of Social Sciences and Law at Oxford Brookes University invites
applications for two CASE studentships offering opportunities to study for a
PhD whilst gaining first-hand experience of work outside an academic
environment. The studentships include fees and a tax-free maintenance grant of
L8000 p.a. An additional allowance of L1475 p.a. may be payable for students
aged 26 or over.
1. The Oxford Primary Care Group: A Case Study of Interagency Collaboration.
This project will evaluate the impact of the new Oxford PCG on interagency
collaboration between health, social care and wider public health services.
The partners are Oxford City Council, Oxfordshire County Council and
Oxfordshire Health Authority. The academic supervisors are Dr Tim Blackman and
Dr Sin Yi Cheung. Candidates should have a 2:1 or Masters degree which
includes health or social policy.
2. Social Exclusion and Dementia among Older People. This project will
explore the social barriers and exclusions experienced by older people with
dementia, assessing the contribution of critical theories of disability in this
field. The partner is the Anchor Trust. The academic supervisors are Dr Tim
Blackman and Professor Helen Bartlett, Co-Directors of the Oxford Dementia
Centre. Candidates should have a 2:1 or Masters degree including one or more
of the following: medical sociology, health care, social work or social
psychology.
