Very soon HEFCE will announce its call for proposals for Subject Centres.
One of these will be for Art, Design and Communications (including film and
TV).
GLAD is involved in a proposal being worked up by a number of partners and
I would like to use the GLADnet mailbase as a way of encouraging some
discussion - I'm hoping to get some ideas from GLADnet members of:
- the kinds of things which they would find helpful
- the ways in which help and support might best be provided
It might help you to know that the proposed Subject Centre is planned to be
distributed between several institutions, with a good regional distribution
and including both monotechnics and universities.
HEFCE will expect that the functions of the Centre will include:
* collation and dissemination of information on learning, assessment and
teaching in the subject
* provision of training and advice
* maintaining appropriate networks
* dissemination of relevant developments in the use of C&IT to support
learning
* bringing the subject area into contact with broader pedagogical and
technological issues through liaiason with the Generic Learning and
Teaching Centre
How might these functions work best for the teaching community in art,
design and communications?
