UNIVERSITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE
SCHOOL OF MODERN LANGUAGES STUDENTSHIP
1999-2000
The School of Modern Languages has set up a studentship to enhance its
growing postgraduate community by providing financial support for a
student in any of the languages taught in the School (French, German,
Portuguese, Spanish).
Students who apply to take a full-time MLitt, MPhil or PhD in any of
the disciplines researched in the School (Contemporary Society and
Politics, History, Film Studies, Literature and Linguistics) are
eligible for this award subject to the following condition.
Applicants are required to apply concurrently for either an Arts and
Humanities Research Student Award or an Overseas Research Student
award as appropriate. In the event that a student is made an AHRB or
Overseas award they will no longer be eligible for the School
Studentship. The Studentship will pay the fee component (stlg2640 in
1998-99) of a full-time degree by research. UK applicants should
possess or expect to possess an overall degree class of at least a
high Upper Second. Students from overseas should have equivalent
qualifications.
Interested students should consult the School's homepage for the
research interests of staff and postgraduate projects.
