Hi Joanne:
If I understand your question I think it´s easy. You have to use the
function XDATE.TDAY in the following way:
length of stay (in days) = XDATE.TDAY (date of discharge - date of
admission)
Of course, first you should create the new variable, although it´s not
completely necessary.

Asunto: Can SPSS calculate bed occupancy data ?
Apologies for cross posting
Dear Mail list users,
I am a researcher currently evaluating a GP admissions' Unit in a
community hospital. I have a dataset in SPSS 6.1 holding basic
patient details.
The query that I have is whether anyone has (or can devise) a formula
in SPSS to calculate bed occupancy (daily or weekly) from the
following:
* date of admission
* date of discharge
* length of stay
Any advice or help would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Joanne Bernhaut
