Dear All,
I have just received an enquiry from a friend of
mine who teaches at Tsukuba University.
He told me that special schools
attached to Tsukuba University
are translating their names into English,
perhaps for English speaking visitors.
They are going to use "challenged" like,
"Kirigaoka School for the Physically Challenged" and
"School for the Mentally Challenged at Otsuka".
I know "challenged" is not welcome. But then
what would be the common names for
schools for disabled children, physical or
mental, in English speaking countries?
Thanking you for your advice in advance.
