Salary: £22,000 - £25,000 London, WC2
The ATLS/ PHTLS Co-ordinator (UK) is the National co-ordinator for the
Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support
(PHTLS) course programmes in the UK. Student courses are run throughout the
UK in over 80 regional centres (around 200 courses per year).
The post holder's primary responsibility is to support the work of the
steering groups responsible for leading the programmes' development in the
UK. This involves close liaison with course co-ordinators and directors at
regional course centres and with the parent bodies in the USA. Other
responsibilities include:
* organising national events/meetings;
* managing a general office;
* managing administrative systems and procedures;
* budget management;
* committee servicing;
* compiling and drafting papers and reports;
* quality assurance.
There are 3.5 administrative staff supporting these programmes, the most
senior of which is the National Co-ordinator. These administrators form
part of a larger team responsible for the administration of courses for
Basic Surgical Trainees, led by a member of senior management and based in
the Raven Department of Education.
Candidates should have a minimum of 2 A Level passes or equivalent and at
least 4 years relevant experience - knowledge and/or experience of ATLS or
PHTLS would be a distinct advantage, however, experience of working in a
medical and/or education field would also be relevant, with some experience
of either: course administration, project management or event organisation.
Other skills and/or personal qualities required: excellent communication
and public relations skills; an out-going and self-confident personality;
strong team leadership and management skills; good organisational skills;
excellent word-processing skills and general computer literacy; good
attention to detail, good time management.
