<center>Urban Studies Funded Postgraduate Scholarship (PhD)</center>
<flushboth>Applications are invited for a postgraduate scholarship funded by Urban
Studies journal. Applicants should have, or expect to have, at least an
Upper Second Honours degree in a cognate discipline. While
applications are particularly welcome from Geography students, those
from other disciplines (e.g Planning, Sociology, Politics) who are keen to
pursue advanced research on an urban topic with a spatial slant are also
encouraged to apply.</flushboth>
<flushboth>The key criterion for the award is that the proposed research topic add to
our understanding of cities, their structure and change, particularly from
a geographical (spatial) perspective. Such a research topic might be
approached from a variety of different angles – cultural, developmental,
economic, historical, managerial, political or social.</flushboth>
<flushboth> </flushboth>

<flushboth>Dr Paul Routledge – cultural geographer: politics of resistance.</flushboth>
<flushboth>Dr Joanne Sharp – cultural political geographer: art, urban public space

<flushboth>Prospective applicants should send a copy of their CV together with a
statement (of 300-400 words) outlining their intended research topic to
Professor Ronan Paddison, Department of Geography and Topographic
Science, University of Glasgow, Glasgow, G12 8QQ to arrive no later than
30 April. You should also include the names of two referees. The
