I'm delighted to see that people are making good use of the list. A few
suggestions to keep the email traffic manageable:
1. Some list members may have less than powerful computing capabilities, so
please put your comments in the body of the message and refrain from using
attachments.
2. When you reply to the list, please resist the temptation to include the
whole of the previous message. All messages are held in an archive which
you can access on the web
http://www.mailbase.ac.uk/lists/bes-mire
Alternatively, you can retrieve archives by email. Obtain the names of
list archives by sending the following message to [log in to unmask]
index bes-mire
stop
For example, the filename for the March archive is 1999-03, and you can
retrieve it by sending another message:
get bes-mire 1999-03
stop
3. Mailbase recommends that signatures should not be appended to list
messages. I am of two minds about this. How about including a signature
only on the first message you send to the list?
