Dear colleagues,
during last decade I am interested in mud-bottom hollows (depressions
on bog surface with blackish bare peat surface with only few vascular
plants - usually Rhynchospora alba, the uppermost few mm thick layer
is composed of Algae dominated by Zygogonium ericetorum). There is
number of hypothesis to explain the formation of mud-bottom hollows
but there is no experimental results. Mud-bottoms can play important
place in the development og bog because of stopped peat (and carbon
accumulation) combined with increased methane emission.
So far I studied the location, types, underlying peat, methane
emission etc. of mud-bottom hollows.
My question: does anybody work in the same field and is interested to
co-operate, or do anybody know such kind of works done or printed
results I will appreciate very much if you let to know.
With best greetings
