IPO, Center for Research on User-System Interaction has a vacancy for an
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN ADVANCED USER INTERFACES
General
The Center for Research on User-System Interaction (IPO) at Eindhoven University
of Technology (The Netherlands) invites qualified candidates for the position of
assistant professor in advanced user interfaces.
IPO is an international research center on user-system interaction, focussing on a
number of areas including: multi-media and multi-modal systems, intelligent and
adaptive user interfaces, agent-based interaction, and interfaces to knowledge
bases. The variety of interests apparent in IPO are brought together under the
overall research areas of human-computer co-operative systems and personal
digital assistant applications. Details of research in IPO can be found at

The successful candidate will strengthen IPO's research and will be expected to
spend a significant proportion of his or her time on research. In particular we are
looking for excellent research active staff who have research interests in areas
such as: ubiquitous computing, visual information systems, audio engineering,
co-operative or collaborative interfaces, multimedia, intelligent computer interfaces
or agent-based interaction.
Successful candidates will be expected to make a significant contribution to
research in IPO and will be given a teaching load commensurate with that aim.
The successful candidate will have a PhD preferably in computing science, a good
publication record, appropriate teaching skills, a clear vision of how his or her
research will continue and how it contributes to IPO's research strengths.
Candidates nearing completion of a PhD, as well as foreigners, are also welcome to
apply.
Appointment and salary
The assistant professorship is a structural position. You will get a temporary
appointment for a period of two years to assess your capabilities. If both parties
are satisfied the appointment will be converted to a permanent position.
An assistant professor is offered a salary between Dfl 4,806 and Dfl 8,429 gross a
month depending on background knowledge and work experience (salary scales
10 - 12 of the Collective Employment Agreement Dutch Universities).
