There are three relevant papers. Two, supportive of the prehospital use of
Nubain come from Guly at al. A third, showing increased opiate requirement
in A&E comes from Edinburgh.
Chambers JA, Guly HR. Prehospital intravenous nalbuphine administered by
paramedics. Resuscitation 1994;27:153-8.Johnson GS, Guly HR. The effect of
prehospital administration of intravenous nalbuphine on on-scene times. J
Accid Emerg Med 1995;12:20-2.
Houlihan KPG, Mitchell RG, Flapan AD, Steedman DJ. Excessive morphine
requirements after pre-hospital nalbuphine analgesia. J Accid Emerg Med
1999;16:29-31.
I have also binmailed you a copy of the Powerpoint presentation I do on
prehospital analgesia. Hope these help.
Best wishes,
Rowley Cottingham
