Hello I hope you are all well
Firstly, if anyone has any new books in the pipeline or comes
across anything that is suitable for review in the
international journal 'Disability and Society' then please let me
know at the following email address [log in to unmask] and mark
it 'books'.
Alternatively, and better still, get the publishers to send me a copy
to the following address:
Colin Barnes
Reviews Editor: Disability and Society
The Disability Research Unit
The Department of Sociology and Social Policy
The University of Leeds
Leeds LS2 9JT
England
and I'll see that it gets reviewed.
Secondly, the following is self explanatory - I hope?
DISABILITY AND SOCIETY
Guidelines for current issues section
For some years we have incorporated the 'current issues' section into
the journal and we are seeking further contributions on any issue
related to disability.
It must be:
- between 1000 and 2000 words in length
- related to a current issue in the lives of disabled people and/or
an issue that has recently been raised in the journal
- INTERESTING (my emphasis and its intentional)
It can be:
- controversial
- challenging
- a response to a previous piece in Current Issues or Book Reviews
It need not:
- contain references
- conform to the criteria required for academic papers in the
journal
- be peer reviewed
It must not be:
- libellous
- grinding personal axes
- personally insulting or malicious in intent
If you are interested in writing a piece or know of someone who is,
please contact:
