Let us remember that CTS is a "syndrome" which is a group of signs and symptoms. To think that
just working with the wrist will solve the problem, or , working/manipulating/mobilizing the C
spine alone will solve the problem is incorrect. Commonly, in my opinion, CTS is misdiagnosed
when it really is a tenosynovitis, and treating the wrist alone works pretty good, but I've
always had to add some sort of scapular stability with these people. With CTS, their usually is
a chronic strength deficit, carpal malalignment, neural tension, and cervical involvement. Now,
that sounds very confusing but it happens quite frequently and is difficult to treat without the
patient re-aggravating some aspect of that continuum.
My purpose in writing is to push everyone not to look at just the tree in the forest, but look
at the whole forest, get the big picture.
For those of you afraid that the Chiro's can advertise that they can cure everything, don't
worry, just continue to advance your manual skills to diagnose and treat appropriately and our
grass will continue to stay green!
