Colleagues,
I want to bring your attention to a promising new peer-reviewed journal,
FIELD METHODS, and invite you to think about pieces you'd like to
submit. Its predecessor, the Cultural Anthropology Methods journal, was
excellent, and we expect FIELD METHODS to be even better. Peer review
will be done almost entirely by e-mail, which makes it very fast. Below
you'll find a description from the editor, H. Russell Bernard.
Best wishes,
-Eben

FIELD METHODS [formerly CAM, the Cultural Anthropology Methods journal]
is
an international, interdisciplinary journal from AltaMira Press, a
division of Sage Publications, Inc. The journal is edited by H. Russell
Bernard, Anthropology, University of Florida (formerly editor of CAM),
and an international, interdisciplinary editorial board of scholars.
FIELD METHODS is devoted to articles about the methods used by field
workers in the social and behavioral sciences and humanities for the
collection, management, and analysis of data about human thought and/or
human behavior in the natural world. Articles should focus on
innovations
and issues in the methods used, rather than the reporting of research or
theoretical-epistemological questions about research. High quality
articles
using qualitative and quantitative methods -- from the scientific or
interpretive traditions -- dealing with data collection and analysis in
applied and basic research from writers in the social sciences,
humanities,
and related professions are all welcomed in the pages of FIELD METHODS.
The
motto of the journal is that "methods belong to all of us."
FIELD METHODS also publishes commentaries and reviews of books and
software.
FIELD METHODS will appear quarterly beginning in September 1999. To
inquire
about submitting an article, or to ask to review a particular book or
piece
of software, please contact the editor at [log in to unmask]
Whenever possible, articles, book and media reviews, and peer reviews of
articles should be submitted in electronic form.
For information about subscribing to FIELD METHODS, please request a
