Dear Sue
One effective way of increasing efficiency is to reduce the number of DNA's.
A phonecall 2-3 days prior to a new appt will either remind patients to
come, or sift out those who were not going to.
This is obviously an increased admin burden and my experience of the NHS is
that all grades are in short supply. However the admin cost of such a
venture is far less than the increased productivity among physios who are
generally more expensive on hourly rates.
The people I know who have tried this system have significantly cut DNA
rates Regards Kevin
