Dear Brenda
I have used taping on a couple of hemiplegic patients. The obvious problems
are that it cannot be a long term solution due to skin irritation. In the
short term, however it certainly made people more comfortable and seemed to
have some carryover effect. I tried more extensive taping, but found that a
single strip (reinforced by 2-3 more on top of it) of tape over fixomul
worked quite well. It was applied (fairly tightly)from the upper trap to 2/3
down the arm with the arm abducted to about 90 degrees with the shoulder
rotated as necessary to get the support the individual needed.
